In December 2024 Grenville Jones took the decision to stop his Thursday evening mixed-voice Welcome Chorus Choir. Grenville explained that his decision was based on a number of factors, the main one being the increasing numbers of new choirs in the Bath area with the knock-on effect of support and attracting (and keeping) membership - having members enough to sustain their continuance, attracting audiences for concerts and the ever-rising costs of music purchase, rehearsal room charges etc.
Grenville has led evening choirs for over 30 years in Bath, including the celebrated City of Bath Male Choir who have travelled the world and who are now conducted by Grenville's son Laurie - see www.bathmalechoir.org
Another Grenville choir project, started in 2007, is the www.goodafternoonchoir.org with 32 mixed-voice choirs singing in the afternoon plus 5 more starting in 2025. There are over 1,400 people in the mixed-voice Good Afternoon Choirs raising many thousands of pounds each year for deserving causes.
